What is Cut & Edge Board?
Cut & edge board is melamine-faced chipboard (MFC) that's been precision-cut to specific widths and professionally edge-banded on all visible edges. The result is a ready-to-use panel with a clean, finished appearance — no additional edging tape, painting, or sealing required.
This makes cut & edge board the go-to material for DIY furniture projects, trade joinery, and bespoke interior work where speed and a professional finish matter.

Why Choose Pre-Edged Board?
Save Time
Edge banding is fiddly, time-consuming work. Pre-edged boards arrive ready to assemble — just cut to length if needed and build.
Professional Finish
Factory-applied edge banding is neater and more durable than DIY iron-on tape. The edges are precisely matched to the board face for a seamless look.
Consistent Quality
Every board is cut and edged to the same standard. No variation between panels, no mismatched edges, no peeling tape.
Less Waste
Standard widths are sized for common furniture applications. Less offcut waste compared to cutting down full sheets.
No Specialist Tools Required
You don't need an edge banding machine or heat gun. A circular saw or track saw is all you need to cut boards to length.

How to Work with Cut & Edge Board
Cutting
Use a fine-toothed blade (80+ teeth for 250mm blade) to avoid chipping the melamine surface. Cut with the good face up if using a track saw, face down if using a table saw. Masking tape along the cut line helps prevent chip-out.
Joining
Use cam locks and wooden dowels for knock-down furniture, or confirmats (cabinet screws) for permanent builds. Always pre-drill to prevent splitting. Wood glue on joints adds strength.
Fixing to Walls
Use appropriate wall fixings for your wall type. For heavy shelving, use timber battens or metal shelf brackets rated for the expected load.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the edging applied to all four sides?
The edging is applied to the two long edges (2750mm sides). The short ends are left unfinished as these are typically cut to size and either hidden or edge-banded on site.
Can I order custom lengths?
We offer bespoke cutting services. Contact us with your requirements and we'll provide a quote.
What's the difference between MFC and melamine board?
They're the same thing — MFC stands for melamine-faced chipboard. The chipboard core is covered with a decorative melamine paper that's heat-fused to the surface.
Is this board suitable for kitchens?
Yes. MFC is moisture-resistant and easy to wipe clean, making it ideal for kitchen carcasses, shelving, and internal components. For areas with direct water contact (like under sinks), consider additional sealing.
How do I match the board to my kitchen doors?
Our Cashmere and Snow White boards coordinate well with most kitchen door ranges. For wood grain effects, we recommend ordering a sample or visiting our showroom to check the match.
What tools do I need to work with this board?
A circular saw or track saw with a fine-toothed blade, drill/driver, tape measure, and square. For professional results, a pocket hole jig or cam lock system is useful.
Can I paint or wrap this board?
Melamine surfaces don't accept paint well without specialist primers. If you need a custom colour, consider vinyl wrapping or ordering a plain board in the closest colour.
