Six diamond edges — three up, three down. Chips are driven into the middle of the board, so the laminate you can see and the face on the spoilboard both come off clean. At feed rates TCT can't survive.

Why diamond
TCT gives up
against melamine
Melamine is abrasive. So is the resin in MDF, and so is anything with an HPL face. A solid TCT compression will typically give you around 30 sheets of laminated board before the edge is gone and the tool goes off for sharpening.
Diamond runs far longer than that. We won't put a sheet count on it, because the honest answer is that it depends on your board, your machine, your extraction and how you run it — and any supplier quoting you a guaranteed number is quoting you a lab figure, not a workshop one.
What we will say is this: the saving isn't really the tooling spend. It's the tool changes you don't make, the setups you don't redo and the parts that don't need touching up. Every hour the machine isn't stopped for a tool change is an hour it's cutting.
Built for the feed rate, not just the finish
The step up from fewer cutting edges is a step in throughput. Six effective edges keeps the chipload per tooth sensible at feeds where a lesser tool would rub, heat and burn. Run it up to 25 m/min on 18mm laminated board, with the spindle at 18,000–20,000 rpm.
Ramp in, don't plunge
One thing worth knowing before it goes in the machine: ramp or helix into the cut, never straight down. PCD is enormously wear-resistant but has less shock resistance than solid carbide, and a vertical plunge puts that shock load directly onto the tip.
Chip-free both faces
Three up-cut and three down-cut PCD tips. Top laminate and underside both come off the bed clean — no scorching, no breakout, no sanding.
Heavy tool body
Damps vibration and holds concentricity at full spindle speed, so the cut stays chatter-free over long production runs.
Can be resharpened
The tool takes a diamond-wheel regrind rather than going in the bin. We don't offer that service ourselves — any competent diamond tool grinder will.
Built for panel shops
Egger and Kronospan MFC, HPL-faced board, MDF and MR-MDF, ply, veneered sheet, solid surface.
One honest warning. Diamond is the hardest thing there is, and it is also brittle. One embedded staple, one screw left in a reclaimed panel, one lump of grit — the tip is gone instantly, and no warranty covers it. PCD rewards clean material and a well-maintained machine. If you're cutting site returns or unknown board, keep a TCT tool for that work.

About this cutter
What does Z=3+3 actually mean?
Six cutting edges: three cutting upward from the bottom of the tool, three cutting downward from the top. That's a compression geometry. Each set drives the chip toward the middle of the board, so the laminate on both faces is held down through the cut instead of being lifted and torn.
How is this different from a Z1+1 or Z2+2?
Same principle, more edges. Fewer edges cost less and suit lower feed rates or smaller spindles. More edges let you feed faster at the same chipload per tooth. If your CNC is rigid and you're running production volume, the Z3+3 is where the throughput is. If you cut occasionally, a Z1+1 or Z2+2 is the sensible spend.
Is it really worth it over TCT?
It depends entirely on volume. A TCT compression typically manages around 30 sheets of laminated board before it needs servicing. Diamond runs considerably longer, though we won't quote you a figure — it varies too much between shops for a number to mean anything. If you're processing sheets daily the maths works. If the CNC runs a few sheets a week, buy good TCT — we'll tell you that ourselves rather than sell you a tool you don't need.
Will it cut MDF as well as melamine?
Yes. Make sure your extraction is genuinely good — MDF produces fine dust rather than chips, and dust that stays in the cut generates heat.
Can I plunge with it?

Aspin Collins is a working panel shop. We cut kitchen doors, cabinetry and panel products in Dukinfield every day, on our own CNC, through our own panel saw, into our own edgebander. Everything we sell goes through that.
That matters for a reason most tooling suppliers can't offer you. When a distributor tells you a cutter is good, they're reading a manufacturer's data sheet. When we tell you, we're telling you what came off our bed last week — including the sizes we tried and went off, and the jobs where a cheaper tool would have done fine.
So if you ring us about feeds and speeds, you're talking to someone who has actually had this in a holder, on the same board you're buying, hitting the same problems. Ask us what it doesn't do well. We'll tell you.

We don't sit on dead stock, and we don't drop the grade to keep a shelf full. Each size is run in limited batches, and when one sells out the next batch is typically within two weeks.
Pre-order a sold-out size and it ships the day the batch lands. Your order secures a cutter from that batch — paid orders go out first, in the order they came in.

Buying & service
Why is my size out of stock?
We run tooling in limited batches rather than holding large stock of every size. If your size shows sold out, pre-order it — that secures you a cutter from the next batch, typically within two weeks, and it ships the day the batch lands.
What kills these tools?
Metal. A staple, a lost screw, a nail in reclaimed board — any of them takes a tip off instantly, and no warranty covers it. Second most common cause is runout from a worn collet or holder.
Can you get a size that isn't listed?
Not yet — we're starting with one size and adding more based on what shops actually ask for. Send us the diameter, cut length and shank you need and it goes on the list for the next batch.
Will you tell me if I don't need this tool?
Yes. If your volume doesn't justify diamond, a good TCT cutter is the better spend and we'll say so. We'd rather have the customer back next year than win one order today.
