Product Description

The Base handle series is a genuine design exercise, taking the simplest of handle shapes, a bent rod, and removing material to create a new form with a simple, characteristic design that fits into many different interiors. This simple bent rod pull doesn't chase novelty, it strips a familiar shape back to its essential lines instead.

It comes in three finishes, antique brown cabinet handle for warmth and depth, antique grey bar handle for a cooler aged tone, and Inox Look for a brushed stainless steel appearance, all crafted from durable Zamac and pairing naturally with the wider Aspin Collins hardware range. As a genuine reduced-form design, Base is available at inox look 160mm handle or 320mm hole centres, and its minimalist bar handle kitchen styling works as comfortably in a country kitchen as a contemporary one.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does "taking material away" actually mean for Base's design?
Rather than adding decoration to a standard bar shape, the designer reduced a simple bent rod down to its essential form, so the design is defined by what's been removed rather than what's been added.

2. Which of the three finishes suits a traditional kitchen best?
Antique Brown and Antique Grey both lean toward a warmer, more aged character suited to country or traditional interiors, while Inox Look reads more contemporary.

3. Which centre size fits a standard cabinet door?
160mm suits most standard cabinet doors, while 320mm is better suited to wider doors or drawers, both are available across all three finishes.

4. Does Base come with fixings included?
No, this design uses a handle bolt rather than standard screws, and the bolt is sold separately.

5. Is Base returnable if I order the wrong finish?
Yes, all three finishes are returnable, so it's a lower risk option if you're unsure how a finish will look in your space.

6. Who designed the Base handle?
It was designed by Steve McGugan as part of a deliberate exercise in simplifying a familiar handle shape down to its core form.
