Why Choose Our Bedroom Fittings?

The inside of a wardrobe works hard. A rail carries the weight of every coat, suit and dress you own, it is pulled and pushed every morning, and it has to stay level for years. When a rail bends, a bracket works loose or a dark corner makes it hard to find anything, the whole wardrobe becomes frustrating to use. Our bedroom fittings collection brings together the parts that fix those problems, so you can repair an existing wardrobe or fit out a new one without hunting through different sections of the site.

Every item here is chosen to work together. The rails share the same 30 x 15mm oval profile, the end supports and centre supports are made for oval rails, and the lighting is designed to fit neatly inside a wardrobe carcass. Whether you need a single replacement part or a full set of wardrobe fittings for a new build, you can order everything in one place.

Wardrobe Hanging Rails

A good wardrobe hanging rail is the backbone of any wardrobe. Our straight wardrobe hanging rail is made from steel with a chrome finish and an oval 30 x 15mm profile, supplied in a 1m length that suits a standard single wardrobe. The oval shape gives hangers a flatter surface to sit on than a round pole, so they slide more evenly and are less likely to twist or bunch together. If your space is narrower than 1m, the rail can be trimmed with a fine-toothed hacksaw.

For L-shaped and walk-in layouts, the wardrobe corner rail turns a 90° curve, measuring 825 x 825mm, so you can hang clothes right into the corner instead of leaving that space empty. Our 90° corner rail uses the same 30 x 15mm oval profile and chrome finish, so it sits comfortably alongside a straight rail in the same wardrobe.

Wardrobe Rail End Supports

Every rail needs a support at each end, fixed to the wardrobe side panels. Our wardrobe rail end supports are made from steel for oval hanging rails and are supplied as a set of two, so one pack holds one rail. They come in two finishes, nickel and black:

  • Nickel: a soft metallic finish that sits well with chrome rails and lighter wardrobe interiors.
  • Black: a bold, modern option that suits dark wardrobe interiors and black or bronze hardware.

To fit them, mark both positions at exactly the same height on each side panel, screw the supports firmly into solid board, then drop the rail into place. Keeping the two supports level is the single most important step, as even a small difference makes hangers drift towards one end.

Wardrobe Rail Centre Supports

On a longer run, or where heavy coats hang from one rail, the middle of the tube carries the most load. A wardrobe rail centre support fixes to the underside of a shelf above the rail and holds it from the top, stopping it bending over time. Our centre support comes in nickel or black to match the end supports. As a guide, a 1m rail is usually fine with end supports alone, but longer runs, rails carrying heavy winter coats, and rails that have started to dip all benefit from a centre support.

Wardrobe Lighting

Lighting is one of the simplest upgrades you can make inside a wardrobe, and it makes a bigger difference than you might expect. Dark clothes are easier to tell apart, and you no longer need the main bedroom light on at night.

Our wardrobe lighting kit includes 5m of dotless COB LED tape for a smooth, even line of light, together with a 12V driver, connectors and a motion sensor that switches the light on as soon as the door opens. It suits fitted and freestanding wardrobes where a mains supply is available, and you can view the full kit here. For a simpler option with no wiring at all, the rechargeable slim bar light is a 200mm magnetic LED light that charges by USB, so it can be placed exactly where you need it and moved whenever you like.

Choosing the Right Fittings for Your Wardrobe

If you are not sure what to order, this quick guide covers the most common jobs:

  • Replacing a bent or broken rail: order a 1m hanging rail and a set of end supports, as old brackets are often worn too.
  • Fitting out a new single wardrobe: one rail, one set of end supports, and a light if you want one.
  • Long double or triple wardrobe runs: rails, end supports and at least one centre support per run.
  • Corner or walk-in wardrobes: a corner rail with a set of end supports, plus a straight rail for each adjoining run.
  • Dark wardrobes: the lighting kit for a permanent wired solution, or the rechargeable bar light for an instant one.

Before ordering, check whether your existing rail is oval or round. All of the rails and supports in this collection are made for oval tube, and oval rails will not sit securely in round end supports.

How to Measure for a Wardrobe Rail

Measure the inside width of the wardrobe between the two side panels where the rail will sit. Take the measurement at the front and the back, because older wardrobes are not always square, and use the smaller figure. Allow a few millimetres for the end supports so the rail drops in without forcing the panels apart. For hanging height, leave enough space above the rail for a hanger to lift off easily, usually around 50mm below any shelf, and enough space below for long coats or dresses to hang clear of the wardrobe floor.

Finishing Touches

Once the inside is sorted, the outside of the wardrobe matters too. New handles are a quick way to refresh tired wardrobe doors, and you will find a wide choice of bar handles, knobs and cup handles in our kitchen cabinet handles collection, all of which work just as well on bedroom furniture. Frequently Asked Questions

1. What bedroom fittings do I need to hang a wardrobe rail?

To hang a wardrobe rail you need the rail itself and a set of end supports to hold it at each side. For long runs or heavy coats, add a centre support fixed to the shelf above.

2. Will these end supports fit a round wardrobe pole?

No, these end supports are made for oval hanging rails like our 30 x 15mm rail. A round wardrobe pole needs round end supports, so check your rail’s shape before ordering.

3. When does a wardrobe rail need a centre support?

A wardrobe rail needs a centre support on longer runs, when it carries heavy coats, or if it has started to bend. A standard 1m rail is usually held well by two end supports alone.

4. Should I choose nickel or black wardrobe rail end supports?

Choose nickel wardrobe rail end supports for a light, metallic look that sits well with chrome rails. Choose black for dark wardrobe interiors or to match black handles and hardware.

5. Can I fit wardrobe lighting without an electrician?

The rechargeable slim bar light needs no wiring at all, as it charges by USB and fixes magnetically. The wardrobe lighting kit uses a 12V driver, so it needs a nearby mains socket.

6. How high should a wardrobe hanging rail be?

A wardrobe hanging rail is usually fitted about 50mm below the shelf above, leaving room to lift hangers off. Below the rail, allow enough drop for your longest coats or dresses.
