Product Description
Hjelm offers a genuine front facing acoustic slat panel design, real wood veneer on the visible face mounted onto a dense acoustic felt backing, giving a clean, considered vertical rhythm without the cost of a fully wrapped panel. As a genuine single sided wood wall panel, it's a practical entry point into slat panelling for anyone wanting the acoustic and visual benefits without a 3-sided premium finish.
Available in oak acoustic panel 240x32, walnut slat panel front veneer, smoked oak acoustic wall panel, grey oak slat panel UK, and Black Oak finishes, Hjelm suits minimalist, Scandinavian, and modern British interiors alike, pairing well with stone, neutral palettes, and contemporary furnishings. Each panel is precision-cut and mounted onto a 10mm recycled PET acoustic felt backing, reducing ambient echo and noise by up to 25%.
Moisture-resistant and genuinely easy to maintain, Hjelm suits both walls and ceilings across residential and commercial spaces. Available through Aspin Collins as part of the wider Panelux range, it installs with straightforward adhesive or screw fixing.

Fixing Instructions
We recommend using a strong "no nails" panel adhesive to fix your panels directly to the wall. For extra support, such as when using panels on a ceiling, we'd also recommend reinforcing with black matt-coated 30mm screws.
These acoustic panels can be fixed to a range of surfaces, including plasterboard, brick, lath and plaster, tiles, and plywood. The key requirement is that the underlying surface is in good condition, with no underlying moisture, large cracks, dust, or damage. We don't recommend fitting these panels near a direct heat source, such as a fireplace, or anywhere they'll come into regular contact with water or moisture.
If you'd rather have your panels professionally fitted, our team offers installation across Manchester, Cheshire, and the surrounding areas, get in touch here to discuss your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is a front-facing veneer panel like Hjelm noticeably worse quality than a 3-sided wrapped panel?
No, it's not a quality difference, both use the same real wood veneer and felt backing construction, the only difference is that Hjelm's veneer covers the visible face rather than wrapping the slat edges too, which is why it costs less.
2. What happens if I run out of panels partway through a wall and need to order more later?
Because Hjelm is a standing product line rather than a limited batch, you can order additional panels later and expect a close match, though very slight natural veneer variation between production runs is normal with any real wood product.
3. Which Hjelm finish should I choose if my kitchen already has matte black taps and handles?
Smoked Oak or Black Oak both coordinate naturally with matte black fittings, giving a cohesive dark palette, while Grey Oak offers a softer alternative if you want some contrast rather than a full match.
4. How do I work out how many Hjelm panels I need to cover a 3-metre wide feature wall?
Divide your wall width in millimetres by 320mm (one panel's width) to get the number of panels needed, then round up, a 3000mm wall would need roughly 10 panels, allowing for the 3% measurement variation noted as standard.
5. Can Hjelm be fitted directly onto a ceiling, or is it walls only?
It can be fitted to a ceiling, using the same adhesive method and adding the recommended 30mm screws for extra support, since ceiling installations carry more ongoing weight-bearing stress than a wall.
6. What does "acoustic rating aw 0.25" actually mean in practical terms?
It means the panel absorbs roughly a quarter of the sound energy that hits it rather than reflecting it back into the room, which noticeably reduces echo and general background noise in a hard-surfaced space like a kitchen or open-plan living area.
